Meals on Wheels is a nationwide network of community-based, non-profit programs dedicated to providing seniors in their communities with the support that enables them to remain living in their own homes, where they want to be. This support is typically a nutritious meal, a friendly visit and a quick safety check. WebThis organization serves nutritionally balanced hot delivered meals to the most vulnerable and disabled in our community. Their average donation per meal is less than $1.00. The cost of meals is around $6.50. In the first 6 months of 2024 they delivered 20,307 meals! They coordinate, cook, and deliver meals out of the St. Johnsbury House.
WebApr 13, 2024 · As the search began for a new location, the Center worked with the NEK Council on Aging to redirect the cooking of home-delivered meals to the St. Johnsbury Nutrition Center (St. J House) for one year, then to the Lyndon Area Senior Meal Program (Darling Inn) for two years, and back to St. Johnsbury as construction was finished. WebNutritious frozen meals are available to seniors living in rural areas outside of the local Meals on Wheels delivery area. Ten or fourteen meal packs are delivered in the counties of Aitkin, Itasca, Lake and St. Louis County. Our volunteers personally greet and get to know each person when they deliver the fresh, hot meals.
